Comprehensive Eye Examinations
- Your eye examination at Borchert Optometry will be thorough. We know how important your eyes are to you.
- A complete health history will be taken because your eyes are some indication of your general health.
- The pretesting is done first by our specialized technicians and is an important part of gathering information about your visual system.
- The "Which is Better, One or Two" test allows the doctor to customize your glasses prescription. Many people worry about this part of the testing but rest assured that it is an integral part of the exam. There are no wrong answers.
- After instilling drops in your eyes, the doctor will perform a "blue light" test to determine the amount of pressure within your eyes. This test is necessary to determine your risk for developing glaucoma.
- In most cases, the doctor will advise dilating your pupils. Dilation opens the window into the eye for a more thorough investigation of the peripheral structures. The doctor is more fully able to examine for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, and many more diseases.
